The more active you are throughout your workday, the better. When folks wear comfy shoes to work, they walk more; let’s face it, speed-walking for 30 minutes at lunch in stilettos is not a good time. That’s why I’m on the hunt for stylish, yet comfortable shoes that promote getting up and moving around. With its low heel made of resilient rubber, I’m liking the Bern High Boot by Keen ($150). Since the familiar Mark Twain quote “The coldest Winter I ever spent was a Summer in San Francisco” is completely accurate, I had more than a few days this Summer to test out these boots. Not only are they comfortable and cozy, but Fab approved of them with only one criticism. She liked the buckles, a trend for Fall, and the whip stitching details. But she didn’t like the extra rubber bump at the toe, which is unfortunately Keen’s trademark. Made of leather and lined with faux shearling, these boots accommodate muscular calves, which can make finding tall boots difficult. The dark rubber sole cushions the feet nicely without leaving black marks everywhere. I walked all about when I wore the boots with no aches, pains, or blisters. Master documentary filmmaker Ken Burns’ most recent project, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, premieres on PBS on September 27.  We know many of you seasoned travelers out there have visited national parks and have some great photos to share, so in celebration of this new documentary, Away.com is having a contest to spotlight our country’s parks.  We’re looking for your best photo, taken in or of a national or state park, forest, or seashore, that shows off the park’s natural wonders, as well as your photography skills.  But choose your very best photo, because you’re only allowed one entry per person!  All you have to do is:

2. Become a fan of Away.com.

3. Type a descriptive caption of no more than 100 words—being sure to include where and in what park the photo was taken—in the text field at the top of the page (where it prompts you to “Write something…”).

4. And before you hit the “Share” button, use the Photo icon below the text field to attach your most impressive national park photo.

Your photo and caption will then appear on our Facebook Wall to be shared with fellow travelers.

Made of repurposed rice-paper shopping bags and recycled rubber from old tires, the Keen Cornell messenger bag saves you money while doing the environment a big favor, too. Keen is known primarily for its footwear–laptop bags are a new venture. But though the Cornell may appeal most to a somewhat niche audience, it hits the right markers in this category.
